Thank You Email After Panel Interview Template (UK 2026)

Alex By Alex · 12-year UK recruiter · Updated April 2026

Why this matters

Panel interviews are common at senior UK levels and in regulated roles. Each panel member typically champions different criteria (technical, cultural, commercial), so a tailored thank you to each one signals you noticed who was assessing what. This often costs you 30 minutes total across 4 emails but disproportionately strengthens your candidacy.

Email template

Subject: Thank you — [Your name] — [Role title]

Dear [Panel member name],

Thank you for the time you gave to today's interview. I particularly appreciated your [question/comment/perspective on specific topic that this panel member raised — be concrete].

[One sentence connecting your experience or thinking to that specific point.]

The conversation reinforced my interest in the [Role title] role and in joining [Company name]. I look forward to hearing about next steps.

Best regards,
[Your name]
[Phone number]

Replace bracketed text [like this] with your details. Keep the tone — that's what does the work.

Step-by-step

  1. 1 During the interview, take quiet mental notes of who asked what
  2. 2 Within 24 hours, write a separate email to each panel member
  3. 3 Each email should reference something that specific person raised
  4. 4 Keep each email to 100-150 words
  5. 5 Send them within an hour of each other so they arrive close together
  6. 6 If you don't have one panel member's email, ask the recruiter — most will share

Common mistakes

  • Sending a single email addressed to the panel — misses the opportunity
  • Sending identical emails to each panel member — they compare
  • Failing to reference what each panel member specifically contributed
  • Skipping panel members because you didn't catch their email — ask for it
  • Making the emails too similar — change the specific reference, ideally also a sentence of context

Recruiter pro tip

If you forget to note who asked what during the interview, the recruiter will usually tell you afterwards if you ask politely. Something like: 'I want to send a personal thank you to each panel member — could you remind me which area each of them covers in the team?' Most recruiters share this happily because it makes their candidate look thoughtful and reduces their work pressing for follow-ups.
