About JobLabs

Insider-led career and AI-tool guidance. Built by a recruiter who's been on the hiring side for 12 years.

The problem with most career AI content

You've seen it: blogs with titles like "10 Best AI Tools for Your Resume!" written by someone who has never hired a person in their life. Lists scraped from ChatGPT, affiliate-rank, and shipped.

I've read those posts. They're wrong. Tools that pass the ATS in theory fail in practice. Tools that sound useful are gimmicks. Advice that feels reassuring misses what hiring managers actually do in 8 seconds.

JobLabs exists because job seekers deserve someone who's been on the other side of the table.

Who writes this site

My name is Alex. I've spent 12 years in professional recruitment — running searches, screening CVs, interviewing candidates, and making placement decisions for clients across multiple industries. I've read over 15,000 CVs. I've rejected candidates for reasons they never saw, and I've pushed for candidates whose resumes were technically "weak" but told a story.

For the last two years, I've been testing every AI tool in the job-search space — because my candidates started asking about them, and I needed real answers. This site is where I share what I've learned.

How we write (and what we won't do)

Every article has a real recruiter's name attached. Not a pseudonym. Not "the editorial team." A person who would stake their professional reputation on what they wrote.

We test tools with real job-search materials. Not screenshots from press releases. Not demo content. Actual CVs from actual searches (anonymized, with permission).

We use AI assistance for drafting, not thinking. AI speeds up writing. It does not replace judgment. Every article is edited, fact-checked, and shaped by a recruiter before it's published. We don't do mass-generated AI content — the kind Google now deindexes.

If a tool is overhyped, we say so. Affiliate partnerships don't change our reviews. We've recommended free tools over paid ones more than once.

How we make money (transparency matters)

JobLabs earns revenue in three ways:

  1. Display advertising (Google AdSense) — non-intrusive ads on article pages.
  2. Affiliate commissions — when you buy an AI tool through our link, we earn a small commission. This never changes our recommendation. See our affiliate disclosure.
  3. Recruitment partnerships — agencies and employers can connect with candidates through our partnerships program.

What this site will not do

  • Sell your data. Ever. (See our privacy policy.)
  • Publish AI-generated content without a human editor.
  • Recommend tools we haven't actually tested.
  • Write listicles to pad search rankings.
