What we publish
The JobLabs Editorial team publishes UK-focused reference content where the source material is itself a public regulatory or clinical document. Our role is to make those documents readable and findable — not to add clinical interpretation.
What we don’t do
We don’t write content claiming individual clinical expertise we don’t have. Where a topic requires hands-on nursing judgement, we point the reader to the source guidance and stop. Specifically:
- We don’t tell you how to handle a clinical situation in front of you — call your senior, your practice educator, or your trust’s clinical lead.
- We don’t write fitness-to-practise advice — the NMC and trade unions (RCN, Unison) are the right route.
- We don’t replace the NMC’s own guidance documents — read the official source for any decision that affects your registration.
Editorial standards
Every reference article on JobLabs goes through:
- Single-source check — the primary source (an NMC document, an NHS England standard, a NICE guideline) is identified before drafting.
- Drafting — the article summarises what the source says, in plain English, with a UK reading level around 16+.
- Citation pass — every numerical fact, deadline, fee, threshold or rule is anchored to a named source with a URL.
- Plain English check — the four-pass humanizer chain (
avoid-ai-writing→humanizer-wiki→humanizer-voice→humanizer-mirror) is run on every draft to remove AI tells. - Final accuracy pass — a second editor verifies every figure against the linked source before publication.
How to flag an error
If you find anything on a JobLabs reference page that contradicts current NMC, NHS or NICE guidance, email hello@joblabs.ai with the URL of our page and the URL of the source you’re citing. We update within 5 working days and add a correction note to the article.
Credentials
- → Source-anchored: every article cites the underlying NMC, NHS, NICE or DHSC document
- → Reviewed against the NMC Standards for revalidation (2016, updated 2024) and The Code (2018)
- → UK-only scope — content is written for nurses, midwives and nursing associates on the NMC register
- → Not a substitute for the binding NMC documents — readers are directed to the source for any decision
- → Editorial review against the JobLabs Editorial Standards before publication
