Terraform
In recruiter context
Terraform is the dominant infrastructure-as-code tool in 2026 and senior DevOps / Platform Engineer roles in the UK universally require hands-on Terraform experience at scale. The strong candidates I place can speak to: module design (how to structure reusable infrastructure components), state management (remote backends, state locking, isolation across environments), and multi-region deployments. Companies that have adopted Terraform deeply pay 12-20% premium for engineers with proven module-design experience. The rising alternative is Pulumi (same concept, real programming languages instead of HCL), but Terraform retains the larger market share.
